Community Without Bounds
Over the past five years, the Writers' Loft has transformed from the hopeful beginnings and big dreams of a small group of writers gathering in a lofted room in Sherborn, to the now thriving mix of a digital gathering space and our beautiful sprawling 4th floor creative space in Hudson, MA.
Join us in-person or live from the comfort of your home!
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we opened our Facebook doors to writers all around the world. We returned to hosting in-person events at our location in Hudson, Massachusetts, but continued to expand upon our virtual spaces beyond social media and now have our own virtual community space right here on thewritersloft.org.

What do we do at the Loft?
- Classes: These are multi-week opportunities for you to dive into the nuts and bolts of writing and illustrating. Past classes have focused on writing novels and editing and revising your work.
- Workshops: Want a working session? Our workshops give you the opportunity to learn AND put your new learning to use right away!
- Craft Chats: These sessions the craft of writing, illustrating, and getting your work published.
- Panel Discussions: We bring together authors and other publishing professionals to talk about a specific topic in an informal setting.
- Agent & Editor Sessions: Publishing professionals lead a session on a specific topic, or on publishing in general, and usually offer a personalized critique to every attendee.
- Write-Ins: Every month, we hold one or more write-ins -- quiet time to focus on your writing and editing, and breaks for snacks or lunch.
- Mentoring: Our members have deep knowledge of writing, illustrating, publishing, and technology, and we love to share what we know!
- Book Parties: We love to celebrate our successes! We hold book parties for our members who have had their works published, and we also gather as a community for fun events throughout the year.
Contact us if you want to pick our brains on anything writing-related, and we will do our best to find you a Loft member who can help!
Mission Statement
The Writers’ Loft is a community which helps local writers foster their creativity, strengthen their spirit and grow professionally by providing them with quiet writing space, educational programs, opportunities to connect with supportive colleagues, and access to industry experts, as well as opportunities to give back to the greater writing community.
The Writers’ Loft is a 501(c)(3) non-profit writing community organization. We have a quiet, drop-in writing space and a community room for special events, or just hanging out with other writers and artists on the 4th floor of the Landing at Hudson Mills, a converted factory at 43 Broad Street in downtown Hudson, Massachusetts.

-Lysa Miller
This is an excellent place to get some writing done in a very supportive community. I just had a really good day, being able to really concentrate
and get some words down. I am hoping to do regular writing retreats there.

Ways you can thank the Loft...

- Spread community outside the Loft when you go out to SCBWI events, RWA, or other communities.
- Buy our books, our presenters' books, and sign up for presenter workshops.
- Buy our member's books from our Bookshop.org. Proceeds from book sales at our Bookshop fund the Writers Loft Press and the donations of books we make to underprivileged schools.
- Volunteer resources & time!
We strive to pay our presenters excellent wages, and we strive to offer events at low cost. We understand everyone has limited funds, so we rely on people signing up, taking classes, and attending workshops to pay our presenters.
