The Nitty-Gritty of Graphic Novels with editor Alison Weiss
Virtual workshop, March 26, 7pm ET with Alison Weiss, plus two-week replay
From character development and pre-writing through choices about scripting, thumbnailing, and paneling, this workshop for both authors and illustrators (and author/illustrators) will dive in detail into each step of the process of developing a graphic novel for the children’s/YA market. We’ll also delve into some discussion of business decisions and questions you should be asking along the way. Please bring writing and/or sketching supplies, as we’ll engage in some activities to get the creative juices flowing. Time will be reserved for questions and answers during the session.

The Act and Art of Self-Revising
You have a draft of your book. Congratulations! Now comes the most important and sometimes most dreaded part: revising. Does the plot make sense? Are the stakes clear? Are your characters interesting? Where do you even start? This session will cover a range of tips, tricks, and techniques you can take back to your creative spaces to get you excited and ready to dig into your pages and make them shine. Time will be reserved at the end to share your own favorite revision tricks with fellow attendees and to answer questions.
